Antibiotic Angst

The possible development of human lactoferrin into a readily available antibiotic [Quick Dips, March] would undoubtedly be enormously valuable in the short term; but I am worried. Sooner or later resistant bacteria would arise. The consequences for the human race could be disastrous, since one of our body's significant defences would no longer be effective against such bacteria.
