Quick DipsSnow Bugs HereSkiers this season will glide over millions of freeze-dried Pseudomonas syringae bacteria. The bacteria produce a protein used as the nucleus for artificial snow formation. When mixed with air and water, the protein produces snow more efficiently and at higher temperatures than the natural process. The technology has been thoroughly checked overseas, but this is the first season it has been used on New Zealand ski slopes. |
