Brian Ellison's comments regarding conference publicity [Retorts, September] are a good reminder to everyone about how important it is to let people know about interesting conferences and meetings.

You look around at many interesting science-related meetings and you're lucky to see 100 people. Often I talk about these things the next day and find my colleagues or friends saying "I wish I knew about that".

So, conference people, get your act together so we all have a chance to hear about them.
